Hey Survivors!

We're currently investigating launch issues with the game after installing today's free Tourism update. It seems that the problem occurs mostly for Windows 7 users, but we are still looking for the root of it.

If you're having issues with launching the game today, please make sure to report it under this post.

Don't forget to mention:
  • What is your operating system version?
  • Do you have any mods/assets installed?
  • On which PC platform do you play (Steam, GOG, etc.)?
  • What is your setup (GPU, graphics card, etc.)?
If possible also include a log file from: \Users\INSERTNAME\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\logs
And the save files from: \Users\INSERTNAME\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\17 digit folder name

You can save both files in Notepad. They do not include any sensitive information, but if it's more comfortable for you, you can also include them in a support ticket.

EDIT
We might also require crash dump files from \Users\INSERTNAME\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\crashes/ folder. We're looking for both .crash and .dmp files. They would help a lot in our investigation!

FOR THE CONSOLE PLAYERS

If you're also experiencing issues with the game, please let us know! Try to answer the questions below - you'll get points for being extra-helpful!
  1. DLC Installed
  2. Mods installed if on Xbox
  3. Game Mode (New Game / Challenges / Creative)
  4. Mission Sponsor
  5. Profile
  6. Mystery
  7. Map Coordinates (should be visible from save game screen)

Thank you!

Platfotm: PC
OS: Windows 7

All non-starting reports are from Win7 users so that OS was obviously forgotten during testing despite advertized as minimum OS requirement. lets hope for a quick fix.
It's so boring wihtout ability to play the game as its my favorite game.

Not just win 7, seen multiple reports of win10 (Although that also seems to be a solution) and even on Xbox... which I can do nothing to upgrade my system. I know PS is having issues too but not sure if it’s crashing like Microsoft based OS’s Or just in game issues

As far as I have seen there's no start crash reports for Win10 but reports of bugs/instability issues with the new update.
Seen a start crash report for Mac and probably one for Linux. Can't tell if those use native code or a windoze emulation

Win7 is often required for older games with copy protection systems that don't work on Win10.
Plus in Win7 you have more control over the system. Have you seen how many bad and broken updates Win10 received lately?

Id like to buy the SM season pass. I hope devs get this fixed before the sale ends. :(

About the OS question, hardware does get optimzed for OS version, too. And my hardware is optimized for win7. Ill run win10 after Ive upgraded my rig with components that are made for win10.

ey Survivors!
Surviving Mars first didn't open at about 10 pm US Central Daylight Time. The program starts to load, but then the "stopped working" dialog appears.

I just purchased the bundle on sale on Steam after having played the game last week on Xbox Game Pass. Weird timing.

- Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_ldr_escrow.190220-1800)
- No Mods. All DLC included in the bundle Surviving Mars: First Colony Edition
- Steam
- DxDiag attached

As an aside, *.crash files can't be attached. Since I've just installed the game for the first time today, I have no save files to attach.
