[Issue] Can't roll back to certain patches

Hello!

I'm a big fan of the rollback feature under the steam 'betas' tab of game properties. I wanted to try out version 1.8.1- after "Art of War" but before the disaster system.
However, despite putting in the beta unlock code, certain old versions are not available in the betas list:

I see every major version between 1.17.1 and 1.33.2 as an option, as well as patch 1.4.1

However, Patches between 1.4.x and 1.17.x, as well as patches before conquest of paradise, are not included in the list. (see below)

Is this how it's supposed to be, or is there something wrong with my case? If this is intended, can I get a reason why? Being able to play EU4 as it was on the release of each major expansion is a really neat feature and it's a shame that it's not available for all of the expansion patches.

What's up is Steam limits how much space the company can use for each title on the servers and they ran into the limit so the older versions were sacrificed.

That's too bad. Would be good if we could get the old patches via the website, launcher, or similar.

If we didnt get so many leviathan sub patches we wouldn't have had the issue

this comment explains an alternative way to get older versions from steam. It works for all versions which were ever released.If you have any problems with it, check the rest of the thread for comments in which I helped others with the difficulties which they encountered with this method.

I'll definitely look into that, but just had a thought. Assuming one doesn't care about ironman compatibility, could old patches be released as "mods"?

This won't work, because mods in eu4 can't override anything which is hardcoded in eu4.exe. And if you would try to use a an old version of the game files with a newer version of eu4.exe you would still have the newer features(e.g. fort system), but some of it will be non-functional or the game will just crash, because it needs something which is not present.

I can confirm that these instructions to use one of the older versions worked for me recently.
