Rome never had any "Empress", any such claim from later Byzantine females just prove their discontinuity to Roman law. And for a mundane "empress" to revoke the Vicar of Christ, ha, that ought be a joke.

Justinian was Emperor, therefore his wife Theodora was Empress. And she did; Pope Silverius was imprisoned, his title revoked and given to Vigilius. In the Roman state, the church was a vassal of the Empire, not its master.

Yeah, if you have to draw a line between Roman and Byzantine, it's in the late 600s when the Arabs carve off half the empire, the remaining provinces become themata, and the official language changes to Greek. The deposition of Romulus Augustulus wasn't even a fart in comparison.

K_africa should be de jure Byzantium in 769. Carthage was lost in 698, less than 100 years prior.

Problem with de jure empires is that:
A: Kingdoms can´t pass out of them unless they switch to another empire, so unless someone controlls all of de jure Africa for 100 years, it will always be considered de jure part of ERE, even if they haven´t been there in 500 years.
B: Empires tend to take back their de jure lands, but not much else. So, if your suggestion passes, we would see ERE taking Africa, but not Egypt, Jerusalem, Italy or Syria, even though all of those are more important than Africa. You would just end up with Roman enclave in Africa. And problem connected to this is that those lands are extremely hard to take back, so this enclave will remain there for hundreds of years.

Christ doesn't interfer with the world not to break the free will of men. How would the Byzantines be free to do such thing if Christ would readily revert it back? No, he may have been deposed, but they had no authority to do such thing. Even when Napoleon captured Pius VII, he didn't "stop being Pope".

Obviously the Vatican itself disagrees with you considering even the Annuario Pontifico published by the Holy See says he was exiled and replaced as Pope legally.
You must have forgotten the first seven Ecumenical Councils are recognized by both Eastern and Western churches up to 787 and who called those councils? Christian Roman Emperors. Who also enforced the decisions? Christian Roman Emperors. So yes. in 537 that was legit.
