That is a very poor way to force a player to take various provinces. Once you have taken the core of the high-IC provinces (i.e. mainland Japan) you are free to do whatever you want, including taking any stinking islands.

In WWII there were several reasons for taking these islands such as strategic/tactical bombing and logistical reasons, all of which are pointless in the game.

That's the reason I don't want to have unlimited AI range, so you need some islands to reach enemies mainland

IMHO that will make the game unnecessary complicated. Don't get me wrong, I too will be happy to see a little bit more complicated HOI 3, but Paradox have to be very careful to not broke the game.

But they don't have to worry about breaking the Pacific War, since it's already broken in HoI2.
