Why was it decided that islam, can't claim the mandate of heaven? Asking this because now malacca, who starts as a tributary state can't claim the mandate while staying sunni. I understand it is a literal one off case and a nation like the ottoblobs probably shouldn't get the mandate. Then again the entire Pagan group probably shouldn't either. Tho i guess the other option would be to base it on culture groups?
Sorry for bumping this, but I wanted to hear p\out some thoughts in the most appropiate thread i could think off

I would say because islam is indeed incompatible. The concept of mandate may be similar to Caliphate, but could you imagine that the Caliphate title can be contested by revolts and all the results are explained by fate? The true dominant religion in ancient China is actually Chinese folk religion, which confilcts with Islam belives in several fundamental ways, ancestor worship, fateful coincidence, etc. Every successful religion in ancient China more or less localized itself to comply with it, even Nestorian. Islam challenges both supernature belives of Chinese folk religion and social orders created by Confucianism. If Islam somehow managed to take over China then I believe the concept of "mandate of heaven" would also vanish.
