I've been playing the campaign game in EUII, playing Castille/Spain. I've tried it out four different times from the start, and each time "Their most Catholic Majesties" Ferdinand & Isabella reign interminably ... or at least as far as 1605, when I get fed up and start again. The result of this un-natural longevity, I surmise, makes it so that Aragon remains a perpetual vassal of Spain, rather than being united with it on the succession of their daughter. Also, Spain remains a permanent vassal of Austria, as Charles V can never inherit Spain, or pass it along with the Spanish Netherlands to his son.
Also, in one instance, even though I chose the "Hold the Iberian Wedding" option, and Aragon became a vassal, Ferdinand never entered the picture at all, and Isabella ruled as sole monarch (with her rather mediocre military skill) for 87 years before I pulled the plug on that scenario.
Is anyone else having this, or similar problems?
