I was wrong before. It worked some for me. But the fact is now it take till 1870's till I start getting 50 different jacobin regiments rissing up every 6 months.
I am playing with the updated file. So yeah this is a serious fail. Hopefuly it will be fixed with 1.2

I have applied the fix and I still have a problem with large numbers of Jacobin rebels. While they are less frequent, I still get nation wide and often plenty in my colonies as well. It does seem to make this happen less frequently with pops in 4-5 provinces quite common I still get periodically nation wide pops. Then of course the anarcho-sindicalists will do the same (it always seems to happen just as I am clearing up the last of the Jacobins).

In the end I got still get sick of them and just post soldiers in every European province I have in my expanded German empire.

Why people would still rebel against my government boggles me, I must of killed millions of them now. Surely they learn????

just a small experience with rebels i had on my Italy game. I let Fascist rebels take over, after this i had no rebel issues what so ever. Im not sure on the game mechanics but as a fascist government i could make loads of reforms, about 2-3 a year. each time i made a reform the militancy went down, and so did the ammount of rebels.

I just cycled between the top two health care options and rebels never bothered me again for the rest of the game

I don't even bother fighting them anymore. The countless rebel brigades do nothing but give my army a little experience between wars. That is, if they spawn in a province where I have an army stationed, because I don't chase after them. The highest I've seen them get in a siege is 40% before they all just give up and go home.

In other words, it's annoying, for sure, but that's about it. Hardly game breaking. Not anything that's going to get me to dig through thousands of lines of code, making minor adjustments here and there in the hopes of improving the situation by 13%.

A human may be able to handle them, no trouble, but the AI is dull as spoon and the game turns to a Rebels-WC.

Hey guys,

maybe a stupid question, but where do I find this file?

I got Vic2 from Steam, and I can't find the text file. I assume it's in the data2 zip file, but I can't open or extract that file...
When I try either, it just says that the archive is unknown or damaged

If the game is intstalled on your computer, it is in the folder \common and the file is rebeltypes.txt. do a search for ")" and you get right to it. Or is it "(" ? I forget now! :D

I have fixed the file as described in this thread and haven't observed any impact on rebels. So it looks like that missing bracket wasn't the issue.

You know, I had a thought reading through this thread. For the people who are saying it doesn't work, have you started a new game or did you apply it and just go on playing an existing save? Maybe, if you have a game from when it was bugged, there are still bugged values in the save data that the new rebel_types.txt file won't fix, so you still have rebel problems. In other words, I'm thinking it'll only affect newly generated data, not existing data. I haven't studied the code extensively, but just browsing what's linked in this thread, I'm thinking that maybe you need to start a brand new save in order to get the full benefits of the fix.

Or I could be completely wrong. Just my thoughts, though, based on a quick look.

I did start a new game. Even though I picked the same nation, it still was a new game. As I said, the problem seemed to have been fixed at first but the way things stand now in my game, its the same old, Jacobin rebels poping up in huge numbers every couple of months. I need to have 10 divisions spread out in Germany just to contain them. Another problem is the inabbility to pass reforms. I know they go away after a reform is passed but its impossible to get any reforms.

Strange. I put the new file in today and haven't had any problems, but I'm also not real far into my new save yet. I'll definitely keep an eye on it and see how it pans out. I figured I kind of screwed up my old save with bad choices, so given my theory earlier, I had two reasons to start a new save. Interested to see if I get a few million rebels wandering around.
