Guys you seriosly concider kingdom england as part of Rome and really want to see it as part of ERE? What game are u playing about? I play medieval european feudalism game as close to history as possible.

Then why on earth play? Also, per your post about deleting target kingdoms for the Imperial Reconquest, you took out Bulgaria. If you don't think the Byzantines should be able to conquer Bulgaria if they lose it during the game, I don't know what to say.

I don't know enough to really argue about it, but I'd be surprised if it was anything more than lip service.

edit: or really even that tbh

Franco-Roman relations are... hard to pin down.

The Turks are overpowered. I usually play as the Byzantines and always manage to hold the turks at bay.
Now with the new patch and with the LOR DLC, the Arabs always outnumber me 2:1 or 3:1 so I don't have a chance.
I lowered the difficulty level down to easy and no change.
Even when I preemptively get my army together and wait for the Turks they still win.
I guess all the complains from the anti byzantines in the forums have finally worked .
By the way how historical is it for the Turks to take Thrace in 1177ad.
We need a little follow up patch to at least allow the Byzantines to hold off the attacks, otherwise it is kind of boring just waiting for the Turks to arrive and hand you your
back side in a platter.

I do think the Byzantines able to conquer Bulgaria without that ridiculous Imp Reconquest. And Croatia and Sicily...
I just want to give them (Bulgaria) chance... I like to see Croatia in map and i dnt like that green gray and now purple blobs

Actually in my 1.07 game muslims are for the first time losing a lot...not only in middle east and asia minor but also in iberia. And abyssinia survived as muslims though but not fatimids.

I'm having separate balance issues with the new patch. I was 50 years from the end of an epic game as the King of France, during which I enjoyed a completely unbroken chain of father to son succession and formed the Empire of Francia, incorporating the Iberian peninsula as well.

When the patch kicked in, my levies were reduced from 300,000 to 140,000, and the factions tore my Empire apart in less than 5 years. The muslims, who had been doing ok but had failed to move into Anatolia, were also hammered by the Byzantines.

Also, haven't gotten that far yet but I want a normal game if some country/empire is going to try to conquer Italy but am glad for this code (instruction, I mean) if needed. Still, Italy wasn't even a Kingdom until, what, early 1900s? So, I guess this is to be expected.

The Kingdom of Italy was first formed by the Ostrogoths (mainly their leader Theoderic) in the mid 5th century, after the collapse of Western Roman authority. Subsequent to the fall of the Ostrogoths a new kingdom was formed by Lombards, centered around Northern Italy, was conquered by Charlemagne and won independance at the end of the 9th century. By the time-frame of the game it had become a largely ceremonial title either held by the Emperor himself (due to the Pope at the time granting the title to Otto I) or to the Emperor's designated heir to the Imperial title.

Edit: Futhermore, like with many medieval institutions in Europe it was the French Revolution in the person of Napoleon Bonaparte (though by that stage it wasn't revolutionary) which killed off the original kingdom, which had a ghost existence up to 1802.

I'm not a history buff but I'm referring to Kingdom in the nation state sense of the word (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_unification) (see maps) and also within the time frame of the game...which as you say is ceremonial. I'm aware of a few basics like you touched on ...the Lombards fascinate me though and the game has spurred interest in learning more about their time as well as before and after.

The Basileus is too happy to use the Imperial Restoration CB.Attacked Croatia for Bosnia,Apulia for Apulia.

Restoration CB is OP. Shouldn't be allowed until "Roman Empire is Restored" Even if we Greeks claim to be Romans.Apulia and Croatia were often attacked by Byzantines any way with Dejure Claims.(county level) before patch no need to speed the process.

I don't see how Byzantines invading Apulia and Croatia is a problem. They attempted (and sometimes succeded) in doing so both before and after 1066.
What baffles me is the CB being available to conquer Spain, France and England of all places. Even northern Italy is too much.

In prior patches Byzantines usually waited until the had vassal with the Ducal Claim to go to war.Because eating a country 1 county at a time in useless. For the most part the Byzies left Apulia alone......

IRL Apulia warred with Byzanties......thats why Alexius Comnemus wasn't happy with some of the leaders of First Crusade.

The fact that the Restoration CB is available prior to the "Roman Empire" Decision is OP.

Overall I think large faction rebellions take too long to resolve. The AI should be hardcoded to not re-raise their armies for about 30 months or so after they go down. Additionally their armies should all blob together so that they can actually accomplish something against the centralized enemy armies.

Both of the objectives should be the following. The rebellious factions should go for the enemy capital, capture it so that they get a gradual victory ticker to 100%, and the AI should be able to do the same for the capital of the leader of the rebellion.

Finally, they should be FAR more willing to declare a white peace if a significant threat declares war on the civil warring nation. They should do it unless they are at the gate of victory or something.

The fact that the Restoration CB is available prior to the "Roman Empire" Decision is OP.

So how do you suggest that the Byzantines conquer the parts necessary to restore the Empire?

Sicily is already a de jure part of the empire anyway, so they can start by concentrating on that. After that's accomplished it's not too difficult to fabricate claims on other areas. It's not really something the AI should be doing anyway.

If you've managed to reform the Roman Empire then fine, have your cake and surfeit on it, but it's both absurd and game breaking that the Byzantines should be able to declare war on places like Bavaria, Aragon and England just because parts of them were Roman about 600 years before the game starts.

How is that absurb? Alot of kingdoms and empires lay claim to areas long ago gone to the whims of history. Like the Germans, Chinese, Japanese, Italy,.. I mean it goes on.
It would make sense that if an Emperor who in a sense continues Rome's legacy would want to conquer all the lost lands if the opportunity presented itself.

You honestly don't think it's absurd that the Byzantines get a free permanent CB against Anglo-Saxon England? We're not going to come to any sort of compromise here. Different trains of thought I guess.

Not at all. Now, actually using it while only controlling the Aegean, thats absurd. But then, so's the idea of the Byzantine Emperor fabricating a bunch of documents to satisfy feudal warlords.
