I looked up a few videos on youtube and the game seems really good. but it seems to never really have gotten any fan interest. is the game any good? is it like freelancer? is it just a shooter or is it also a trade space simulation game? are there multiple endings or is it more linear?

also should i play tarr chronlices before this game, or does the story not connect between the games?

The game was popular among most posters, so if you can find it cheap it should be a nice buy. If the programming company hadn't gone bankrupt while working at patching the game (to add things like full joystick support for flying simulator joysticks and the like) it would probably have been even more popular.

I can't answer if there is any connected storyline, sadly. I just moderate here. ;)

The story is in the same "Universe" but your a completely different person. Tarr proberly does give you some backstory on the Mirk. (I havn't actualy completed either of them).
