Is this a real nation?

Yeah, what it says up top. Is Malindi a real nation, because an African Sunni nation with a flag that's extremely similar to Sweden's seems like some sort of really elaborate meme. Upon looking up Malindi, I also couldn't find anything about symbols or heraldry at all so there doesn't seem to be any quick way to verify this.

Is this a real nation or is there some sort of elaborate joke which I'm not privy to? If the nation was real does anyone know what source Paradox used for the flag?

Thanks, I saw the Wikipedia page about Malindi so I should clarify, where is the flag of Malindi in EU4 drawn from?

IIRC (I looked for sources for it sometime ago, working on my personal mod), it's based on one of the African flags in this book: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_Knowledge_of_All_Kingdoms
Probably XIV century author had limited informations about the flag and stylised it, so it would look more familiar to how European flags looked, or msybe even outright made it up. Paradox had no better source, so they used that European-looking flags

Most of the flags and emblems from that book are in respective articles on crwflags.com (unfortunately, I haven't seen one, easy to access list of all of them tohether), e.g.: here are some Moroccan flags https://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/ma_f0fxx.html and here Sudanese/Sybsaharan African https://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/sd_f0fxx.html The second one of those is the source for EU4 flag of Makuria.
On the other hand, this supposedly Polish flag shows that knowledge of the Catalan author of the book wasn't really that accurate https://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/pl_14f.html
