Is this a bug? The Ottomans successfully called in Tunisia into a war against the mamlukes who were guaranteed by Tunisia...

Hi, i am not sure if if this is the right place to put this but i'm 99% sure this is not meant to happen. They may have changed something around in emperor but Tunis is gauranteeing mamlukes, allied to ottomans, ottomans declares on mamlukes - tunisia gets called into the war against mamlukes on the side of the ottomans. I do not have the emperor DLC - but i'm pretty sure this is meant to prioritize a defensive call to arms first and if tunis does not get called in its meant to get a truce with both the attacker and defender...

Are you sure it's not the other way around ? Usually Mamluk will protect Tunis, and do so in many games. Unless Mamluk got beaten down to a few provinces, Tunis cannot guarantee them.

If what you say is true, than there's still one way that it could happen. If Tunis is in dept or for another reason doesn't want to fight the Ottoman, he can decline the call to arms of Mamluk, lose 1 stab and all in the process. Then Ottoman can ask them to join the war on his side with the call for allies since the war didn't last long enough yet.

This occured to me a few time with DotF. You are allied to Spain or something, they are DotF but won't join because of dept. The next day, you send them a few 1000's ducats and they join on your side against their own religion.

This is well beyond 1440 start. A 6 province mams isn't gauranteeing anyone in that region, let alone a massive tunis. If they are, which they are 100% sure they're not, then there is another bug.

Pretty sure if the latter of what you said is right its not working as intended or has been changed relatively recently in EU4.

Attacker's call-to-arms happens before defender's, at least for player attacking AI, been that way for a long time if not since the beginning of EU4.
Usually, if a country is allied to both, it will have enough negative reasons to reject the attacker's call at least, not sure about guarantees. And a truce only happens because of a broken alliance or guarantee, not directly from rejecting the call-to-arms.

I just want to confirm that something is seriously messed up with defensive calls to arms. I'm allied to the papl state but have ferrara in my trade league. The Papal state called me into an offensive war against my own trade league participant(a defensive call to arms). THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN.

No bug here. Probably what happened:

Tunisia had a negative weight in entering the war on the Mamelukan side. So it refused the call.

Since it refused the call from the defender, the attacker can call it. Tunisia had a positive weight for entering the war on Ottos side, so it accepted the call.

Stuff like that happens, albeit not so common. You just never noticed. Once or twice I got an ally entering my war against some tag it guaranteed. (Well... befoe 1.30, because now they never accept my calls, always in debt...). But I dont now if it gives a stab hit.

tunis rejected call to arms for attack on mamluks; this gives no truce. this can happen if tunis guarantees mamluks while rivalling them I think or debt. Rejecting guarantee CTA does NOT give truce, so Ottomans can call them in versus Mamluks, more bonus points for that since its their rival maybe and since otto has likely 80 trust with Mamluks.

But yes, this is weird, as the mechanic is meant to prevent ottomans from attacking mamluks.
