Is this a bug or am I doing it wrong?

We have lost the battle of *random place*! We lost 24,000 of our 24,000 soldiers. The enemy lost 53 of his 4,000 soldiers!

What gives!! My strongest general commanding my most powerful army can't hold back 4,000 Egyptians?

Have you applied the 1.3 patch? If not you should; that reduces the randomness of combat and makes it more dependent on the troops and in particular the general.

Thanks for the advice, but I have installed the patch. Does this happen to anyone else or is it just me?

did you start a new savegame? Also did you clean out any mods that could have changes to combat?
