Hitting a food crisis with my fast-expanding hivemind, I happened upon a world of iron-age primitives who would go a long way towards fixing that problem as livestock. So I threw together a couple of armies while I build a starbase around their star, then dropped my armies on them. Easy victory, but instead of giving me the planet and the tasty pops theron, the planet simple became "occipied" by me empire. As if it were a space-faring NPC empire I was at at war with.

I cannot eat them.

I feel like when you stick a dollar in the vending machine but the Honeybun gets stuck.

If only there was some subsection of the forum dedicated to bugs, and some way in which you could find threads pertaining to a specific topic.
Oh wait, there's a bug report forum and a search function, you'd be surprised at how useful the latter can be.

and the list goes on

Yes, it's a bug in 2.2.4. Not sure if fixed in 2.2.5 as patch notes make no explicit mention of it, although there's this line:
* Ensured capital buildings can convert to the correct type when a planet of primitives/machines/hive minds is taken over by another empire type

I had that problem o 2.2.4 as Exterminators, but on 2.2.5 it was OK for them. Probably the same goes for Hives

Thanks for the help. Could have done without the passive-aggressive nonsense, but thanks nonetheless.
