Is there still any interest out there for EU Rome?

My biggest "problem" with the title is that, while I bought it day one, I was still using most of my gaming time on EU III at that point. When I got around to it, yeah I enjoyed it but I felt the replay value was pretty limited due to the smaller map -> less nations of interest. This is made way worse by the fact that I don't know what I'm doing half of the time: in EU III or CK I can get an interesting game out of a not-so-interesting scenario by doing something insane, but that requires a level of skill that I don't have for Rome.

I'd like to give it a go again, especially since VV seems to really improve the game from my very limited experience with it, and since some of the mods seem to address my issue with the map's limitations. But there's still the "I don't know what I'm doing" problem, and since my search for instructive AARs with any recent version of the game didn't provide results (please let me know if there is such an AAR that I've missed), the learning would have to happen the hard way. Something tells me that I won't get around to that before CK II is out.

So mostly it's just because of other Paradox titles that I don't play Rome much, but I admit that I haven't given it a fair chance. There is still interest, but it remains to be seen if it leads to any action on my part.

There is major interest for a Rome 2. Dunno if this is the right time making it tho. Rumors say Creative Assembly is making Rome 2 Total War

EDIT: Creative Assembly
