Is there still a method to remove Ironman from a save?

I was having a lot of fun going for the Basileus save, but the game is pretty much at an end due to a stupid mechanic and those reprehensible scum over in Venice.

I really enjoyed this game so far, and I don't want it to end. There's been a lot of interesting things that have happened in the rest of the world, like an AI Ireland, a Saxon HREmperor, Genoa being totally kicked out into the Crimea, etc.

I don't care about the stupid achievement anymore, I just want to continue my game!

On the load preview screen, I think you can uncheck the Ironman box and then start the game.

That didn't work. I did manage it through some save file manipulation though. Now the Byzantine Empire can continue onto the Renaissance.
