There was an aztec game of mine where my ruler died and his heir with 10 years old was put on hold for regency.
Not being able to declare wars is a very bad news for an aztec game.
Than my heir assumed and right after I got a new heir with 0 years old.
I declared war immediately and I DID NOT put my king as general.
One year later my heir died of a sickness (while 1 year old) and one month later the King died then I got an interregnum and that was how I rage quit.

No, not really. All rulers have the same chance to die, only thing besides age that affects it is being a general and participating in battles/sieges.

Does simply assigning the ruler to an army(without participating in a battle) increase his chance to die or is it just a myth?

You're right actually, it does slightly increase the chance.

It's a joke. He's saying that the higher your monarch's stats are, the higher his chance of death is. If he's a 6/6/6, it's 100% that he'll die.

It seems pretty accurate with heirs. If I get an heir with great stats I start preparing for a regency or PU war. Somehow the good ones usually die young and the bad ones live to 80. Alright, maybe there is some confirmation bias at work here.

Is that intentional? Kind of makes sense from a "going outside makes you more prone to catching a bout of death" point of view.

There probably is. I forgot which country I was playing but my ruler died and I went into regency. Since my idea of fun is not waiting 10 years of game time doing nothing, I savescume'd. I loaded the game and during all 6 loads, he died withing 1-2 months. Not on the same day but very close.

Yeah I do think that some rulers have some sport of health/mortality stat. It seems like Enrique dies within a couple of years even as a player. Philip seems lasts for decades if not triggered by event most notably if it's player that guy likes to live to his 90s.

i had to replay my burgundy campaign 6 or 7 times, no joke because my ruler died within 2-3 years every time, the final time i accepted his death because i was already in a big war with france, and figuered i needed some time to recover anyhow after such a war.

but seriously, thats all bad luck then?

i really thought his death was a coded 1, yust the 'when' was random

Can this be changed? Having your ruler simply be around as a general increasing their risk of death is bizarre, and incentivises making terrible rulers into terrible generals, while keeping good rulers that may make good generals as far away from anything pointy as possible (unless your ruler's a woman, I guess).
