You've shaved off a province from Persia (c_armail in d_baluchistan, k_baluchistan)
Fixed, thank you. I've also fixed a few other bugs, notably Kempten moving to Ukraine, as reported in the other thread. This version should be 100% bug-free. I apologize for the sloppy job I did yesterday, it was my first mod ever, and I was in a hurry due to real life stuff.

Me too. I love playing my own country in this game, considering very few game developers actually know Indian history that much to actually put it in a game.

Besides, I like playing alternate history where I can stop historically devastating Muslim invasions from ransacking all of India. Or reunify it into Mauryan Empire, the the most OP blob possible in the game.

That's what I'm talking about! I'm glad that RoI added something for you that you enjoy, because choice is Good™ in my opinion, and the more choices you have, the better the game is. I'm also certain that you're not alone in this. I, for one, was thrilled with TOG because it let me really play as my ancestors. So it thrills me that you're getting more enjoyment out of a game that I already love immensely thanks to an expansion :)

Unfortunately, and that's back to the whole "I'd like to mod India out of the game again" discussion, too many people in my opinion consider any such suggestion "whining" or whatnot, and that's just silly. I'm not terribly interested in the Indian subcontinent when I'm playing CK2 and I'd like for an option to just cut it back to what it was before RoI. That's not because I consider the Indian subcontinent "beneath me", that it's "unimportant" or any such silliness, it's just that I don't play there because I don't have a personal interest in it (yet. It might change. I've been known to change preferences), so I'd just like to cut out that part when I'm playing. That's not the same as insisting that it shouldn't have ever been added, I think it's great that it was, more choice is better, it's just that I'd like a check box that would let me ignore it if I so desired. Just me. Not everybody else. We're all different and thank Bob for that. The world would be such a boring place if we weren't.

To turn it around, going back to my love of TOG, I wouldn't mind if there was an option for players to say "seriously, I don't give a hoot about the Norse pagans, could I please just be able to turn them into an entity that exists but doesn't affect my gameplay? What do I care that the Fylkir of Trondelag inherited titles from the High Chief of Svithjod and married his cousin three times removed? Just let me focus on the goings on in, say, Andalusia." And I'm saying that as somebody who is deeply invested in Old Norse history. Because somebody having the option to "black out" that area doesn't affect my enjoyment of the game.

Now, given the complexity of the code and the game in general, I don't honestly know what an option like "check to make India go away" would mean or if it's even possible, I'd just like to have it. And if it's impossible, then I can live with that too. It's just me expressing a wish.

My ultimate bottom line, though, is that the RoI expansion added something for you that made you love my favorite game even more, and that's a good thing. :)

Who said that? And if it is, it'll be the biggest waste of dev time and resources ever. All it does is lag up the game. It never interacts with the rest of the world at all.

Abbasid are conquering it in my current game.

Still some more border conflicts wouldn't be unwelcome there.

Finally to everyone wanting theaters of the world, I think it'll be a CK3 thing, it'd be a neat addition to have mini theaters you could play in, and a whole world map outside of it, but I am not sure if they'll be able to pull that off with the current engine. Even with me debating it wouldn't be as much work as testing two entirely different games, it would up the workload a bit in maintaining two maps in it's current form.

It's very likely that CK3 will even have China in version 1.0 because then they don't need to rise the system requierements.
CK2 starts lagging even on damn good gaming computers, I wonder how they would manage to add so much in CK3 without making the game completely unplayable.

I have an overclocked I5 with 8 gigs of ram and it's smooth. I consider that an average computer. I realise everyone's budget is different, but I am actually looking at upgrading this year.

To directly answer your question though, characters will likely be handled different, it'll be all about how they are coded. The map itself adds very little strain, it's the number of characters loaded into memory or processed (one of the two).

Better engine from start. The current engine is just not very good. And the biggest reason for the slow down on 64 bit system so that paradox optimised the engine for 32bit systems... which leads to a slow down on 64 bit systems. CK3 should be 64bit only then Paradox don't has to bother with the few 32bit owners. This is on of the biggest reasons of the bad performance actually.

I dunno what you consider to be a "damn good gaming computer", but the game runs just fine for me. That said, I have an i7, a GTX970, and 16gb of RAM which I don't necessarily expect everybody to have, but it is a fairly high end PC and I'm not getting framedrops at all, and I just finished a 769-1450 grand campaign.

It would be lovely in future to have an option to enable/disable map expansions. I'd wager the vast majority of people playing this game are of European descent, followed by middle eastern and eastern European. The vast majority of this game's fanbase are mostly interested in Christian Europe, Muslim middle east and Pagan northern and eastern Europe. That's the geopolitical area of the world that most of us who play this game come from and are descended from.

Where the hell does India fit in with this? India played no part in this area in the past and it plays no part in this area in the game. They don't do anything! They just sit there clogging up the game files and making it slower! They're like an awkward weirdo who showed up to your party uninvited and just stands in a corner doing nothing and nobody has the heart to tell him to go away.

India DID play a very important Part of the Middle and Near East.

And to make the expansions enabled/disabled would be hard because Paradox would have to test and balance both maps.

Maybe. But then bumblebees also played a very important part during the Middle Ages. Just imagine what the wild life and its impact on socieity would be without them. That does not mean I want a deep, in-game representation of all bumblebee sub-species in the game, even though it is fascinating (really, it is). Point is you can chose to include any aspect of the world on any possible dimension. Different things are important just depending on with which eyes you are looking. Do bumblebees fascinate you more than aristocratic incest? Medieval european knighthood Crusaders... or Indian elephans? It is just taste... I don't think there is any objective way of saying one part is better than the other (unless perhaps performance issues). I personally just find what is close to a particular goal to be the relevant argument (and goal is some sort of mix of the officially stated goal of pdox and people's perception of what they bought).

Agreed. Let's drop India ;)

I'm not necessarily talking about the FPS - I'm talking about the speed it takes for a day to pass in-game (On Speed 5). It just takes longer and longer the further you get.

No. We don't drop India. Just because you are too Eurocentric too accept it, don't mean India is unimportant and should be removed.

India DID affect the Muslim policies. The rulers of Persia often tried to conquere India. For the Eastern half of vanilla map India was more important than Iceland or Ireland. Does this mean we should remove Iceland or Ireland too, because it had little affect on the eastern half of the map? I don't think so. Without India you couldn't play Persia without westward expansion.

Maybe. But then bumblebees also played a very important part during the Middle Ages. Just imagine what the wild life and its impact on socieity would be without them. That does not mean I want a deep, in-game representation of all bumblebee sub-species in the game, even though it is fascinating (really, it is).

This is such a by-the-manual sophism that I'm almost in awe.
