Is There Going To Be Another Expansion?

I've been pondering buying EU:ROME, but I don't want to jump in before the "complete" game is out. Will there be another expansion for ROME, or is Vae Victus the end?

I'm still having fun with EU3, so I'm in no particular rush.

since there are no official statements or hints regarding this, i would tip on "no" for the near future. im not sure if Rome "Gold" can be seen as a "complete edition" either.

It's too bad ROME got off to such a shaky start. It sounds like it's quite a bit better now, and could be improved even more. I just hope there's a ROME 2 eventually, because I really like the timeframe.

I don't think it's necessary. There could very well be another expansion pack, but Vae Victis wrapped it up pretty well. Judging by how fast it was finished (meaning time between game and exp pack), I think it was just a holdover game for Hearts of Iron 3. They jacked up the interface from EU3 and removed important features (like release nation), and civil wars are too frequent. Still fun though.

personally i think all paradox games are in need of an expansion to give them AI control of armies like in the new hearts of iron after seeing it there well its something all the others are missing. As to Rome itself theres a still a lot missing, as stated already release nations and vassal states are desperately needed also if the player could veto marriages for anyone in his country and also direct the marriages for the royal family are two aspects thats its terrible to be without especially if youre egypt and king keeps not marrying his sister and to see an expanded timeline or map would also brilliant.

On the other hand, VV does a lot for Rome, and if you get the game, you'll gain access to the mod forums, where some folks have done good work.

Remeber that most Paradox games have had 1 or no expansions.

Doesn't it depend on popularity as well? I think it's safe to say that Eu3 is more popular than Rome. Also they still have patches to do for HoI3

Yeah, well Rome didn't even sell nearly as many units as EU3 did. So, I wouldn't hold my breath for a 2nd expansion.

Sorry to say that I agree that a second expansion is unlikely. There's a lot of great ideas in Rome that simply aren't as fleshed out as they should be. I'm also totally flummoxed by PI's decision to remove the option to release nations/negotiate the release of nations in this game. Although they are no "vassals" per se, you do have tributaries, which are more or less the same thing, and more appropriate to the time. Vassalage is something particular to a feudal system, which really hadn't developed all that much in this time period.

I love the dynasty and court/senate management in this game, but I wish it were flshed out a bit more. Your options seem artificially limited when it comes to managing your royal family. Why the hell can't I choose my heir or arrange marriages for my children? Other than these complaints, the character system is one of the biggest selling points of the game IMO.

My only other major issues are the short timeline and incredibly tiny map. I want to expand the Roman Empire to the borders of China, DAMN IT! There is nothing that can really be done for the map at this point, but I would love a second expansion to improve on dynasty management and to increase the timeline of the game.

I think they will rather add something to EU3 and then move on to building a new game upon HOI3 code. I hope for CK2.

I doubt it but I would definitely buy one. It sucks that PI didn't put nearly as much of their game genius power into Rome like they did with EU and HOI series which are far superior games.

I am pretty certain that they will release another patch or even two.

Sorry guys, I wasn't trying to start an arguement over which Paradox Game
is better, just making a biased observation.
Either way, it's sad that it seems that they don't seem interested in building
upon what is a really good game (in my opinion) and I think we can all agree
could be even better.
Good luck to us all in getting an expansion or sequel to ANY Paradox Game
we favor...
