Is there currently any reason to have more than 1 current template upgrade?

I mean when you use experience to upgrade tanks, is there any reason to diversify equipment? I feel like it's just spam numbers, pick which go first.

EDIT: I phrased this wrongly. I meant equipment upgrades.

You may want big Arm Divs for say Europe and smaller ones (less supply consumption) for say Africa. You may not want to loose your Arm Divs XP when adding say TD and SP to a template. There's a fair few reasons I have multiple Div templates for the same general type of unit.

For single player? Just make 1 division and call it ''the division'' then take over the world. If you want to be fancy about it, make an armored division as well.

For multiplayer? In my experience, the most skilled players tend to use a wide spectrum of different templates.
Infantry template + 2-3 variation for port defense, amount of artillery and amount of AT guns.
Specialist units. Especially the UK, USA and Japan use marines and Italy tend to always get mountaineers.
Armored templates. small, large, lights, mediums and heavies.
Motorized units to close off pockets
Mechanized to quickly reinforce pockets

Naturally, you don't use all of these in a single game. But over the course of 10 games, i may use up to 15 different templates. Depending on game plan, my opponents and the situation. Btw, i play with a mod were mediums and heavies are more expensive so light tanks are more viable since they are cheaper. We also have more specialist units like jungle and desert troops, so add in that as well.

experience to upgrade tanks
I think he is asking about equipment upgrades, not division templates.
Incremental upgrades have increasing cost, so theoretically it's cheaper to make one variant with maxed armor and one with maxed guns compared to upgrading everything in one variant.
But that reason wasn't ever big enough for me to make different variants. You'd need vastly different usage scenarios for the equipment and carefully keep the variants separated through template settings just to save a few exp.
