I've combed through all of the old threads and nothing works. Always a connection then disconnect within seconds. Both computers are in my house, both have their own copy of Battletech on steam on separate accounts. Always times out.
Is there any way to play multiplayer online?

Unfortunately: No.
Multiplayer is massivly broken. I myself have not been able to play a single match. The best I could do was two rounds. Most attempts already fail at the lobby.
It seems like there are some serious bugs present in the game's network code.
But since the devs are not willing to fix the game it is unlikely this will change anytime soon (if ever).
