I know if I annex them and then release them, they will have my religion, but some countries are simply too large for that (like annexing might require 210% warscore, vassalising 98%), and also sometimes when you release a country, they take a large chunk out of your own land as well. So I was wondering, is there an easier way to do that? I feel like a button "ask to convert" could be nice? I mean, the HRE has a button literally for that, so why not make it for vassals too, if they like me enough.

Also, is it just me, or so far vassals / marches have been kind of underwhelming? They don't really help me much in actual combat, even when I tell them to support me, they still do whatever they want and run into enemy stacks, so all they're good for so far is feeding them cores and then diploannexing...

Annex and vassal cost is always the same. Also note that releasing vassals doesn't necessarily convert them anyway. It will convert them if they were heathen. A protestant nation remains protestant if released by a catholic.

If I eat lands to release a nation, I just straight convert their provinces before release just to make it easier for them. They can convert stuff they're fed.

Anyways, I guess one somewhat easy way to convert a vassal (for the Reformation at least) is to hope they're next to a Center of Reformation.

Ai war mechanics seems broken... Even if i hadn't read any post ot topic about it, but they almost never follow orders.

I can confirm some vassal AI is... odd. Had one vassal who started to build troops for no reason, wouldn't even defend his own provinces in a war, let alone help me out.
