Is there a way to ask to "Support Independence" ?

I am an EU4 player who recently got stellaris.

In EU4 when you are a vassal it's possible to ask other empires to support your independence but I don't see an option like that in Stellaris. The "Request independence" dialogue I see with my Overlord is also broken and has one single -50 modifier no matter the relations.

Will I have to fight it out?

I am trying to roleplay a little bit and I don't want to war (playing a technology dependent nation that only terraforms and colonises using robots) but I didn't know vassals can't colonise worlds!

Alas, you're in a bit of a dead end right now. In my multiplayer game, all players are in a similar situation (as described here: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...improve-stellaris.992856/page-3#post-22292390 ).

I'm afraid your only chance is to take on your overlord directly or hope that some other power decides to free you on their own.
