Is there a way for a navy to stop a naval invasion

I've asked this same question myself in the past and it seems like the answer is no. I was playing as Germany and the Allies were landing a large force in France. I still had somewhat of a navy and wanted to send it to stop the invasion force and attack the landing. But there doesn't seem to be a way to do that.

I think there should be a way to attack a landing force. The Germans tried attacking the D-Day landings but they didn't have enough ships to do any real damage.

Just tested in the English channel.
Started an invasion as Germany with 4 Tanks and 6 Infantry and short after start, I put the full Royal Navy on Convoy Raiding.

Result:
2 Tanks were killed on sea, 1 landed with 20% strength, 1 with 34%. With that low strenght the tanks have not enough armor and get pierced by the englih infantry. -> They are useless.
Infantry was a bit better: 1 killed on sea, 5 made it 3 with full strength, 1 with 30%, 1 with 10%

It's only a path of 3 sea tiles and the full german navy came to support the invasion but it failed because of the Royal Navy.

So I think the answer is:
Yes, a navy can stop a naval invasion. Maybe not "stop" it completely meaning no one reaches the beach, but weaken it so much that it is doomed to fail.

I think it was @Secret Master who wrote about one of his MP games where he was trying to invade India, but his opponent had put multiple submarine task forces in his path. Those submarines engaged his convoys, which stops them from moving, and sank a lot of his divisions. The main problem though was his invasion landed in uncoordinated fashion, some delayed by subs, some not, and could not overwhelm the defenses as they did not arrive together.

The simple answer is yes, but you have to be proactive. If you wait until the invasion starts you aren't likely to be able to prevent it. If you patrol the likely invasion routes with convoy raiders, you will do tremendous damage to his army while at sea (but no against a prepared player in MP).
