My experiences with marrying first cousins has been harmless. Note that in real life children born to first cousins are usually fine.

I'd say marrying a cousin is pretty safe. While it is possible to get the inbred trait from this it is few rare. I've never done brother/sister so I don't know how rare the inbred trait is then.

From my experience it seems like the children of brother/sister pairs also don't get inbred traits that much, either, maybe at worst a 10%-20% chance or something - assuming they have quite a number of kids, I rarely get more than one inbred kid, and even so, again, the chances of inheriting the genius trait and keeping the claims in the family and all that outweigh the risks.

Cousin marriage though is arguably a bit safer.

Well father and daughter can cause it, but its also worth noting that the daughters mother was also his sister. And their 4 children were not inbred.
