With the recent addition of a Peasant's Republic government, I kind of want to know if there are any more government types that can be added. Some suggestions? Post them of course and here are mine.

Maybe a variance of government for the Manchurian tribes?
A unique one for Qing?
A government for Legalism in the Chinese minors?

What I have been wanting since the first time I played Florence is an unique kind of Republic for them, that ensures that the Medicis stays in power at least as consistently as IRL. They modeled this with the option to turn into a Duchy, but the Duchy of Tuscany appeared later on. Many events are revolving around the Medicis and this seems dumb, because there is no way to have a Medici in power once Cosimo dies. Something similar to Dutch republic by many aspects, that allows RM because well, we have even had kings of France RMing the Medicis. But with a focus on development cost and tax instead of trade and naval. And with cool mechanics to represent the struggle between the Republicans and the ones wanting to transition into a regular Feudal Duchy.

I made a suggestion for Confucian Monarchies, which can be found here. Basically, their central mechanic revolves around Civil Service examinations, and the factions of traditionalist and meritocratic bureaucrats.

There's actually an option to elect a Medici when you're a republic as Florence, IIRC. It was added a couple of patches ago.

EDIT: Apparently it was added, but then got removed for some reason, possibly because it was buggy.

I played them in 1.18, and have not seen this option. Is there any special prerequisite? That was a short run though.

That Medici option was added by mistake and was in the game for a week or so iirc (removed together with hotfix) because doing it properly required more code changes.
It's something we'd like to have at some point but I can't make promises as to when :)
Despite what the button said it never really worked.

@Trin Tragula:
Wouldn't it be possible to make the Florentine Republic as a reskin of the Dutch Republic?

I mean that as a slider between Medicis (Medici ruler for life) and Signoria (noble ruler for a set term), and relevant bonuses for each type.

You've done updates of DLC in the past, so this could be an update to the Res Publica DLC. It seems only fitting.

I acknowledge that this suggestion would also mean rewriting a good amount of events. But I think this is worth it and would be welcomed by the community.

Pretty please? ;)
