Is there a new version of Flag Maker?

I find the image quality that is turned out from the program fairly bad. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I've tried to use the photoshop templates and they never work...

As you can see, the image is very pixle-like and the flags look very weird. Can anybody help me with this?

This is what I get using Photoshop and the EZFlagmaker.

Two things:
1) The loss of detail on the shield isn't due to the flagmaker but is caused by the resizing of the source image.

2) I Did not change sharpness/blur or anything (though you could of course), but my flag comes out all right using EZFlagmaker.

how did you make the flag, not the shield. My flag looks really weird compared to yours, because yours is how it should be.

EDIT: Can you also zip/rar and send me your flag maker version, maybe I have a really old one or something... my flag looks really weirdly animated, I could adjust the blur on the shield though to make it look a little nicer.

K I got the shield part down easily, but I can't do the flag part... I have no clue what the instructions are telling me to do.

First, start the action that creates the shield. Save the result, then restart the action (just click the little arrow -- it will proceed from the stop point). When the alert pops up telling you the displacement settings, enter them as described, then search for and select the displacement file (displaceVictoria.psd) on your hard drive and click OK. Save the result. Restart the action again (click the little arrow), and the flag maker will reset to its default appearance. Repeat as necessary.

You have the action loaded yes?

Make sure your source image is RGB (not index)
Resize to 70x44
Select the image and copy it.

Now you should open the EFM.psd (so you now have the flagmaker open and is the selected item)
Go to actions and select 'Easy Flagmaker' Action.
You will see a couple of choices (Shield and flag for HoI, shield and flag for Vic etc)
Highlight the Shield and flag for HoI option. The 'play' arrow button will then become clickable - it looks like the play button on a CD player.

When you press play the program will go through the actions and the EFM.psd will change to become your shield. A box should pop up saying to save your image and it will have a 'stop' button on it.

Press this.
The little box will disappear.
Save your image as xshield.bmp (whatever you want as long as its 24bit bmp) do not close the image
Then press the little play button in the action screen again.

The EFM.psd (currently looking like your shield graphics) will go through the next set of actions to become your flag.
Follow the instructions (0 and 1 displacement) and apply the displaceVictoria when it tells you.
A box will then pop up saying to save your image. Do so.
You can then press the play button again to bring the EFM.psd (currently looking like your flag image) back to the original EFM.psd image ready for the next shield.

K thanks a lot, I was closing the shield image...

K I did exactly as you say... when the shield image is displayed I saved it and didn't close it, then I clicked the play button again and it gives me this error

Hmm, it shouldn't.

Make sure that the EFM.psd is the selected item when you press the play button (rather than either the source image or your saved image).

I tried again and it gave me the same error message. What version of photoshop do you have. I have CS2. On a side note, after I save, then actions stop at a part that says "Select Previous History State" and I click play when it's on that. Am I supposed to go to the top of the hoi 2 flag and shield action list and play that again?

I think this is due to the version of Photoshop you are using. I have two computers, one with Photoshop CS2 and another Photoshop CS3 Beta. It turned out that the CS3 Beta version had the same kind of problem which the resized image isn't accurate enough. But CS2? I am not sure why yours didn't do.

And other than resizing the image to 70x44, clicking play, applying the waving effect, and saving the files, there is absolutely nothing else you need to do.

I resize it, paste it into the EFM.psd middle part where the flag is supposed to go. Immediately press Play on Hoi flag & shield. Then I save like told and press play again and it gives me that error.

can somebody make a video or screenshot tutorial on what you do with it... I can compare to what I'm doing.

You do not paste it into the image.

After selecting and copying your resized source image. Select the EFM.psd and press play.

You do not paste at all.
