It loses all the bonuses it gets from being a march, so it's a vassal that you still can't annex, and doesn't pay tax, but without any of the benefits.

Yea it sucks. I wanted to make Sweden a march when playing as France.

Iirc you can still annex it, but you get a -200 for breaking the march.

I'm pretty sure Sweden plus Finland plus the Danish and Norwegian cores is still under 60, in 1444. How much were you planning to feed it?

I gave it the entire Baltic coast (+all of Norway and Denmark). Then Russia became scary so I wanted to boost Sweden by making them into march. Swedish non-OP NIs would fit well with March bonuses. I wonder if I could have made them a March and then feed them more. Ah well.
