Just wondering will there be an attempt to do a complete revamp of EUII in the style of Torchlight's homage to Diablo?

As far as I know Torchlight was made by former members of Blizzard North, as completely different game - not homage. What do you mean by complete revamp? Move to 3d?

In spirit it is a total homage to Diablo and pretty similair. Nope I believe EUII is best kept 2d it looks far better. I was meaning a map revamp a diplomatic, economic and military revamp infact the only thing I would keep in stone would be 1419-1815.

As far as I know new map is coming along, and with proper feedback/suggestions from players new game mechanics will come with next patches. Game engine is quite flexible and changeable now, so foundation is laid. :)

As in...you kill a army...and it drops loot? And you equip this loot. To your monarch? Or your armies/navies? Actually that ain't a bad idea.

:D

I dont know about dropping loot but one thing you could pinch from Diablo/Torchlight is the skill progression trees for the various techs, military capabilty, diplomacy and economics.

That is actually a really good idea for military tech. A nation heavly lagging behind could catch up 50 years in one big war out of sheer necessity - this has some basis in history aswell i beleive.

Indeed, this raises some interesting possiblilities. What is the tech system like?

The skill system for Diablo/Torchlight is the tree system with various branchs with skill slots opening as you progress in level. Each particulair skill you can invest a number of points in so in theory no two characters are the same. Each character class has a different skill tree with three branchs.

In EUII the tech system is pretty abstract, tech level 13 is generic and means the same to all nations wheras in the tree system the branchs for land might be logistics, cavalry and infantry. And it would be the players choice where to progress. So you would see over time armies with different traits.
