IIRC, right after WoL there were characters (the usual suspects ) with over 40 children. Right now, somewhere around ten living ones is the cap. It is fairly noticeable if one of the ten children dies and after years of cycling through concubines without any child, one gets pregnant fairly quickly.

Is that for the upcoming patch? Or a previous one?

Also, will the Options introduced in the coming patch allow for modifications, either upward or downward, to fertility?

I wish to state the following for anyone reading this,...

ITS A NECRO'ED THREAD !!!!!! of 2013.

Thank you for the attention (and please guys stop bumping it and start a new thread instead. Just a suggestion of course..)
Obligatory disclaimer: i'm just another forum member.

edit: Thinking about the topic i also start to believe that maybe there is an issue that needs to be adressed (muslims seemingly having no limits or well less,
while everyone else has..), in the light of the recent dev diary about optimisation. So a new thread could make sense.

It's admin's job to lock the things anyway so what's stopping me from just posting something informative to others interested in the subject before the thread gets locked.

Nothing, but by bumping you incentivise others to post in the thread as well and help cause confusion, posts like the one i quoted,
and probably make moderators lives harder, as then they will have to more likely actually act on it.

So much for my theory and why i recommended to not further post in here, but in a new thread instead.
"It's admin's job" is already a poor argument in my universe, but well..i'm not going to discuss this any further.

..and you only confirmed some theory from 2013 with a post form 2013 and it's not clear how valid that still is.
Just my 2cents on your question. Keep posting if you like, but you asked and i explained you my reasoning.

Fair enough, I concede.

I think the cap is 8 children through passive reproduction, after that your wife/concubine/lover won't get pregnant anymore on their own. Seduction events and the genius son dying and you blaming your wife event will still get you another kid though.

I saw characters with 40+ children, back when Way of Life's "seduction" focus was rampant and unfixed...

It's pregnancy through event though. If you're pagan you can see there's an obvious child cap as at some point, even without being terribly old (like 35/40 if you've been hard at work...), setting aside concubines and picking 3 16 years old concubine and remarrying another 16 years old with family focus can not get you new children.
