Is there a chance we can get an espionage focused DLC?

I would imagine that espionage is something would be improved in a free patch that comes with the DLC because the espionage system affects every single country. The espionage system does need a bit of improvement though, right now the espionage ideas are near useless.

I like much more how it goes in EU IV. Spending a spy to get an instant revolt was a really handy tool to run or catch/weaken armies, but it is much more interesting and realistic to spend money to support rebels instead, for exemple. Perhaps it could use a little buff in terms of increase in RR, or just simply reduce amount of gold spent, to avoid rebelions poping everywhere if your neighbours don't like you (just as how some countries were spamming you with annoying spies). I do seem to notice that while I regularly actively support rebels, they hardly spawn. Or perhaps it's because there is no pop up about it, and they got crushed somewhere in the fog of war. It's quite true that the espionnage ideas are of limited use though.

Yeah I hope but I bet an espionage expansion is probably really low on the priority list. and even then it might get just merged alongside other expansion as a secondary focus.

They could need some love yes, but I got real problems thanks to Venice taking those ideas in my very first game - they kept sabotaging my reputation and manged to destroy all my alliances that way - I (Switzerland) have been allied to France from the start of the game until 1780, and after i got the -50 relation hit they cancled the alliance and immediatly switched their opinion oward me to hostile... When I finally manage to get rid of the modifier I get some new alliances up, but as soon as they manage to sabotage me again I loose them pretty fast...

So I'm surprised how effective that action is, at least against the player who partly depends on one or some alliances with AI nations.

Try vassalize/annex neighbors with religion differences and "have casus belli" malus while someone sabotages your reputation...

If they're gonna put some work into the Espionage system it'd probably be released as part of a patch as opposed to belong to it's own DLC. Unless of course the changes introduces new game features which are radically different (Spy Rings, Assassin's Guild, etc.).

I think it would be rather neat if they introduced some additional mechanic for each idea group. Decisions or something that further affected your development. I like the event chains that culminate in interesting happenings.

Pipe dream probably.
