Still means it's impossible...Beating Japan and uniting China as Nat. China strictly implies you're not going "historical".

Not at all. It's completely doable. I've done it a few times already myself. In fact, I'm at the point of trying to find a better and more effective way because I want to post a small guide on the wikiStill means it's impossible...
No, I know how to win as China, it's easy, but I was asking if it would be possible to do historical united front while annexing the warlords because I didn't want to be at war with many warlords with a Japanese player (I've won in singleplayer many times but I'm looking for a multiplayer strategy that gets me the warlords. Not at all. Generally, the strategy is to try and stack as many bonuses as you can while reforming your army. I was able to hold off Japan with just two armies of 20 width divisions. You start pushing them back once you get an air force and an armored force to attack with.
EDIT: wanted to say a bit more
Put all your starting factories on basic weapons. It is better to have an army equipped with basic weapons than an army that isn't equipped at all.
Your first focus should be the military one; your first political appointment should be a military advisor. Together, you will get a passive 0.1 Military experience per day. After 200 days, you have enough experience to make a 10 infantry militia division. These will guard your ports and your fronts early on.
After this, your new military factories should go to Arty, Support Equipment, and Motorized. Start turning some of your militias into regular infantry divisions with arty, engineers, and field medics. If you have been diligent in defending your borders, you may even be able to push Japan back at this moment.
Oh. I'm not sure what you mean by "going historical".So it's impossible to go historical...
Given enough Communist China stabs you in the back. I like to train up a third army for that eventuality.Funnily enough, I was hardly aware I could even do any of these things and just brute-forced them by justifying war and invading them one by one.
Which may not have been the best option since Communist China joined the Comintern when I invaded them, which caused a war with the USSR.
