Is the function to "delete" one's own post no longer active?

I bet the post you were trying to delete was the first post in the thread.
That would delete the whole thread so is not allowed.
You would need to get a moderator to help you with that.

So if you go to edit the post you just made above this one, there is no delete button beside the go advanced button?

Could be a bug with the permissions in there or it was disabled because someone was playing games or what not.
I do not recall that situation, but I am not the only one that makes changes.
I do recall that once a post is a certain age it can no longer be deleted by the poster, but that may have been removed in a software update.
