Is the forums infected?

Last hour or so I have had various porn and malware sites opening randomly when surfing these forums. I have checked my machine with Malwarebytes and Avast Antivirus, and neither finds anything on my machine. So I suspect it's the forums?


It all started when I opened eitherthread, fwiw:

I removed the links for obvious reasons. Other staff can still see them.

I have the same problem. I don't know if I am infected or if it is the site... but so far, this seems to only happen on PDX forum. Funny enough, it's showing up in this very thread. I uploaded a screenshot.

Note I couldn't even post since the banner obstructs it. I had to go to "more options" to post.

EDIT:
I tested this a bit more. It seems that it was only doing this on Chrome but not Firefox. I went and disabled some extensions in Chrome and it seems to have gone away.

The specific culprit in this case for me is "Betternet Unlimited Free VPN Proxy" extension which was actually not even active at the time (it was only supposed to show ads when it is activated).

The problem have gone away since I've disabled it from Chrome. Just to test it out, I re-enabled it then refreshed, and it was interfering with PDS forum again, then I disabled it, refreshed and problem went away. Something must of changed the way that extension was showing the ads since this was not ever an issue before. Nevertheless, I think at least for my case, I can rule PDS forum out from being the issue.

Maybe OP can give it a shot disabling the extensions?

Thanks @fleetothemoon , I had that extension myself. Will try with it gone and see how I fare. Weird it only happened here on the forums though.
