I love it, but I'm always anxious, nervous, and sweaty just before Barbarossa and during the early stages because I know, 9 times out of 10 it will lead to my eventual downfall. I bet my blood pressure even shoots up for that period too. how much would that suck if I died of a heart attack while playing HOI?

I play WiF, which discourages you from invading before June 1, 1941 due to ruining subsequent scripted events. Although there is a June 1st Barbarossa event that sometimes fires. Fighting the Soviets in WiF is 10 times more difficult than in Vanilla. I almost always bog down around the Dnieper River just before the first winter.

Im just playing the Soviet Union on Barbarossa. I let Germany attack me on the historical date, but instead of pusing into Berlin in 1941, I am fighting in my own soil, constanstly retreating inlands and taking horrible beating from the German armies, getting hundreds of thousands of my soldiers killed and armies encircled, and facing one devasting defeat after another; because I always know the winter will come and in the end after hard and dark years I will be victorious. It's an awesome experience.

Wait for '43 then pack a lunch because you have a long hard road. Lots of fun but I do lose quite a bit , but I get better all the time.
