Those pictures shows very standard Commonwealth with no real gains aside integration of Lithuania and some monastic orders land and Crimea bits

I believe plc isn't even programmed to be more aggressive

Also playing Austria and complaining about not being able to beat Poland

"Let others wage war. You, lucky Austria, shall marry!"

They were my Allies until about 20 years ago when they rivaled me..............

I've played other games such as Muscovy> Russia.......where PLC became Revolutionary. It was fighting World War I wars in the 1750's game for 3 provinces......It was a slog.

Generally unless I border them I could careless...........

Even in real life Austria called PLC to help them when Kebabs were about to cursh western Europe.

Face it, the only reason why winged hussards stopped to rule the battlefields is that it's hard to pierce a panzer with a spear.

I don't get why people complain about historical major powers being major powers in game.

Quick reminder : it took several major powers to take it down in real life. Many times.
If PLC strenght bothers you that much, do the same thing in game.

Not forgot to mention, standing around 10 legitimacy while being a good target for a PU, is not an advantage. At all. Plus, rebels events, many neighbors, and better cavalry but worse infantry, making stacks weakers if they don't have enough time to recover infantry.

Is that you, Polandball? :)

Perhaps a way to make the Commonwealth less OP is to buff the Teutons so that Poland has some real opposition from a region it just gobbles up as a matter of course before brutalising the East...

Not even. The main problem is that Sweden can easily fail to break free with a random set of unfortunate alliances (ae : Denmark and Muscovy). And since few patch, Muscovy tends to fail very hard.

What I don't understand is, how did Kebabs failed that much. If Austria did it, why leaving BYZ territories alone? If PLC was that OP, it would have grab BYZ + Anatolia + way more.

Is that you, Polandball? :)

No hahaha. When you know a bit of PLC history, you can't be surprised to see it being set as a major power in a video game.

Teutons were done in 20 years of game time which is a quite historical no reason to delay it longer beside they were buffed already see to traditions and ideas

yes they are no match for Poland and lithuania just like they weren't in real life

In this game, Muscovy failed hard and was replaced by Novgorod which is PLC's friend. Sweden broke away from Kalmar Union easily but found itself in a PU with Great Britain........and then the PU failed but Sweden stayed Allied to Great Britain.

CW fractures in about 50% of my games. Sometimes Poland fails to integrate Lith. Sometimes Kievan rebels break them. Sometimes they get beat by Russia / Ottos.

I definitely dont see CW OP.

I may have an exceptionnal cases, but util now I have never seen the CW collapse without my intervention. Hell, I even inflicted defeats that would have made the deluge look like a border skirmish on them as Prussia, and they just go annex most of the Balkans against a blobed out Ottoman and snaked around the hordes until they reached Persia, all of this while fighting me and Russia every 10 years for 50 years until I turn my attention elsewhere.

PLC dies horribly like 50% of the time. Russia gets dogpiled and dies horribly about 20% of the time. Those are probably the most volatile of the majors.

re: Austria - with the current IA cheese you can probably conquer the world by 1678, so if anything Austria is the overpowered nation ))

hell, I even inflicted defeats that would have made the deluge look like a border skirmish on them as Prussia,
With either Bburg or TO start, PLC should have exploded sometime between 1500, unless you are playing on AI bonuses - without their humanist core unlocked they will explode at the slightest prodding. You are forgiven if you formed Prussia from Ferrara or something, then I can understand.

So if we're going by random anecdotes, here's my Mongolian eastern archers laying a beating on Commonwealth at 1:2 odds, worse general, and trash units, pls buff Commonwealth, they clearly need a 50% CCA bonus and 2x Elan to compete:

If people are too worried about PLC, know that dragging Poland into war until they get a king and/or funding Lithuanian pretender rebels stops the PU.

Hahahaha these hordes.

These are the screenshots of the current Commonwealth in my game:(I am Austria)

The problem is that because it chooses Humanist National Ideas it is TOO stable. And then it has Combat Bonuses in Every area, Some of which like +33 Cavalry Combat are the best in the game.

That is why I think Commonwealth is OP.
What's wrong here. You seem to have been passive toward a country that is known to snowball given a chance. If you didn't want such a strong neighbour you should have planned on breaking them earlier. That they now outmatch you is nothing to do with them being OP and everything to do with your not containing them.

tech 15 vs tech 14, possibly single most important tech timing in the game. And I have the 3 or 4-cav flank. True 10k cannon hurts but only tech 16 do I really consider cannon a non-negotiable threat - that is when fire modifier + unit type change = 2x artillery fire damage.

Yet more reasons why PLC with their eastern tech, elective monarchy and choosing between either trash rulers or bad legitimacy is underpowered.

I take it back, the Commonwealth is the third most fragile major after Ming and the Timurids. All three are one major war loss from fracturing into an unrecoverable mess. Unlike French minors, the Ruthenian minors are not small.

Well looks standard AI PLC game to me lol. You shouldn´t be surprised you lose battles choosing two ideas that suck for, well, winning battles, BTW.

In my game as PLC I allied Bohemia, got Western Arms bônus, add that to Innovative and I would only westernize if I were crazy. Went Quality, add 20% infantry from policy, stack wiped even Sweden.

IMO only thing I would change is Lithuania getting more rebels. Poland NIs are too good maybe, but well, national idea system IS stupid.
