Is the "Call Diet" supposed be nothing but a button press?

Interactions
One way to try and keep your Estates a bit more loyal is, of course, by listening to their advice and complaints. Interactions are special actions that can be taken towards Estates. For example, the Call Diet action allows you to assemble your nobility and let them weigh in on how you should rule the country. If you're lucky, what they want will align with you want, and everyone walks away happy... but if it turns out that their advice goes completely against your carefully laid plans, you have to choose between doing it anyway or upsetting them even further.

Sooooo... is there supposed to be some event or something? or is it just a 1 click modifier with no nothing associated with it? because from then dev diaries is seemed like there'd be more to it the just that

It was cut for time, it's something we'll look into adding back in the future.

Ok i'm usually the last person to get angry at paradox, but i have to say that is unacceptable, if you couldn't make it in time then don't release it, especially when the missing features have been in the dev diaries for the dlc, and therefor used as marketing. Dev diaries are a marketing tool to promote hype for the new dlc and to increase sales upon release, the things that are in them are expected to be in the product we buy. At the very least you could have added a disclaimer to that section of the dev diary visibly informing us of this before the actual release

I didn't hear the saying 'Dev diary is marketing tool' from developers. Aren't they for interacting with customers? And I want patches and dlcs as fast as they can, no matter they are complete or not. People have their own utility system.

Oh, I though that would pop-up in the objective/mission system, letting you choose some mission to please a certain faction. I did not see it, but assumed my estates were happy. Would it be a totally separate system not in yet then?

How, if they did not have enough time to finish the feature, would they have the time to go back into the code and remove all the buttons they had already created and fitted with the rest?

Also, Estates were advertised, I don't remember seeing specific references to any "call a diet" feature....

i'm not saying they should remove all the code, i'm saying they should have informed us either in a separate post on the forums, or by editing the dev diary in question.

I see DLC as a way to invest my money into Paradox so they will continue to improve this awesome game. Sadly with some bugs but they will get fix in time with delay. (still have memory leak in 1.14.1, that and Weak HRE authority)

no matter if they are complete or not? do you want a broken game? rushing release and lack of testing and polishing is how software gets broken. i don't want a broken game, i want paradox to take their time and release a solid, stable product. because i love their games and have spent hundreds of hours(and $) on them. and yes dev diaries are good for interacting with customers but if you think there is no marketing motivation behind making them you are wrong

but that is not the point here, the point is transparency, if a feature we were told would be in the dlc didn't make the cut in time, then they should at the very least inform us of that

It doesn't matter if they intend dev diaries to be marketing or not, they have that effect and they likely know it. Saying 'they aren't marketing' would be disingenuous of Paradox even if they aren't budgeted as marketing in the corporate sense.

But a developer diary is beta information, not product specification so doesn't count as false advertising. Inaccurate marketing using prototypes happens all the time.

I think it is worth remembering that @Wiz sometimes says in Dev Diaries or on Twitch streams that there are exciting things being worked on that aren't advanced enough to talk about yet. Set against that background, having a Dev Diary which uses the "Call Diet action" as an example of one of the interactions coming in Cossacks is reasonably going to lead people to believe that it will be in the DLC on launch.

In that sense, I agree with the OP that it would have been better for Paradox to edit the Dev Diary in question and to separately advise users that they hadn't managed to get it done.

I also agree with others who say they'd rather not have rushed features and this sounds like one that would have involved a lot of scripting and needed a lot of testing so I think they made the right call to not include it. Just would have been better to tell people rather than have people discover it and get annoyed about it.

i'm not saying they should remove all the code, i'm saying they should have informed us either in a separate post on the forums, or by editing the dev diary in question.

You think they should post an announcement to say that one line of one of their dev diaries was moderately misrepresentative because they were not able to flesh out the feature as much as they wanted?

That seems excessive and unnecessary.

Also, I question how much it would have helped. I didn't even see that line, I imagine many others also didn't or didn't read into it as much as you (or didn't care). Making an announcement to avoid some mild disappointment for a tiny minority doesn't seem like it would do much.

Not a big announcement. But one line in the patch notes so that the people who did spot it in the Dev Diary and were excited about it would know that it didn't make the cut whilst those who didn't remember the line from the Dev Diary or just weren't that bothered by it would skip over that line of patch notes and move on.

Changes between what's in the DDs and what's in the final product happens all the time, we couldn't do them if they were going to constrain us months later.

We should've made a statement about it being cut though, sorry about that.

"that line" was an entire paragraph in the dev diary about the estate system, one of the main selling points of this dlc, it is my sincere opinion that at the very least they could have spent 2 minutes editing in a disclaimer on that dev diary before release

EDIT: with Wiz's statement this topic is basically over. a statement from Wiz about their postilion on it is all i wanted. i'm glad he agrees that a statement should have been made (not that that was ever really in doubt, paradox has never given me reason to think of their businesses practices as shady in the past) i just hope we never have this thread again :p

So there will be more ways to interact with Estates in the future? I hope they come with 1.15 and not 1.16

I don't. 1.15 is supposed to be bug fixes and so I'd rather they're focussed on that instead of writing lots of scripts for new events that will inevitably have some bugs that slip through. Save the new stuff for the free features in 1.16.
