The title pretty says it all. Is the game AI in the current state capable of building land forts, coastal forts, air and naval bases on its own?

In Di:G, we could see Britain had coastal forts available to make any possible invasion much harder. But these were pre-built in the scenario, I suppose. So can the AI build those defences automatically only when needed? I mean, only after the fall of France, if it actually can dedicate some IC to be spent on coastal forts, but not being built until that moment.

The only map buildings the AI will construct on its own normally are Coastal forts (on provinces with naval bases), provincial AA, and Radar. On rare occasions the AI will build rocket test sites, and can build nuke reactors if it has the tech.

it builds forts in black ice. any province which isn't a front line one (didn't want the ai building maginot's on every front) and has industry is fair game. more of a fallback for a desperate defence.

Not true. For example, the vanilla SF AI for GER will build forts on the French border:

It's true rocket test sites can be build in odd places, but you only get a benefit from deploying them, so the way the game works, it doesn't really matter if it's on the border.

Ah, nice to see it can be done. Thanks for clarification, Darkrenown. :) I'm just thinking about how nice things can be done with this ability - British coastal defences, Siegfried line, Czechoslovak border fortifications, Molotov line, Atlantic Wall, Japanese air base at Rabaul etc. Hmm, delicious.
