Might be worth driving to a university/library/college/coffee shop that has free wifi :SI get 120kbps download on a good day... even downloading the 4GB stated on the Steam page would be a 3 day endeavor....
I assume Paradox will fine-tune the Game until the last moment. Maybe (hopefully) add the 5 new races and additional races if there is time. In any case I think they will take every second before release to find and fix bugs. So no pre load days before Release.

I don't think they actually have "physical" physical copies. It's just a box with a sheet printed with a steam key in it now. That would be a patch then. They have to get the gold version ready soon anyway, to get the DVDs pressed.
A pre-load would be nice, but Paradox games are generally not as large as a lot of AAA titles by now, even though Stellaris might be their largest game. Of course with a 128er line even like 2 or 3 GB will suck...well or won't rather...
That would be really fishy actually and on the amazon.de page I can't see any information that their ISN'T a DVD in the box. It says that you have to register the game on Steam but not that have to download it.I don't think they actually have "physical" physical copies. Assuming it's like EU4 etc, it has a DVD and a Steam key in the box. While I've never installed one from that, I guess it saves some download time (on Windows anyway, the EU4 or CK2 DVD does not have Mac and Linux installers on it).I don't think they actually have "physical" physical copies. I guess it isn't uncommon practice nowadays, my friend got me both Civ V and Wargame: ALB a while ago as a gift, and the physical boxes just have a printed manual with a sheet that has a steam key. That would be really fishy actually and on the amazon.de page I can't see any information that their ISN'T a DVD in the box.
