Is pneumonia hereditary, or do I just have bad luck?

I seem to have bumped into it a lot in the game I'm AARing (read! c'mon, please!)

My first ruler was Sergio Spartenos. He is succeeded by his son, also named Sergio. He dies of pneumonia. He is succeeded by Isaakios, one of his three sons. Isaakios has pneumonia and simply awful stats. I kill him off with F12. His brother Alexandros succeeds him, luckily lacking pneumonia. Alexandros dies, his son Andronikos reaching the throne. Andronikos gets wounded, which leads to illness, which leads to (you guessed it) pneumonia. He snuffs it. His eldest son is Dragos. One of Dragos' sons, also Andronikos, gets pneumonia and dies. Dragos gets wounded in battle, leading to illness and pneumonia. Not dead yet, but his stewardship is down to 1. The score so far is:
Pneumonia: 4
Leprosy: 0
Black Death: 0
Stomach Worms: 0

You're just unlucky.

Yeah, try breeding in some high health wives. Cuts back on the occourances of illness(and thru that pneumonia). Not to mention your characters will live longer and daughters produce more fighters(that survive infantcy that is) for the cause.

Fairly hard to do, considering you don't know what people's health score is. The best you can do is view what is happening/happened to the person's relatives.

Try to marry your ruler or/and his sons with a girls whose family has lived old and has few diseases. Because your ruling dynasty needs healthier fresh blood.

That takes fun out of the game. And I think that's cheating. Well It's everyone's own choise do they cheat or not in SP, but don't use that if you play MP and everyone else doesn't use same ledger. You get huge benefitts compared to other players.
