Since I can't see explanation in the new DD, I want to ask whether Ming is a culture union country in 1.9. It doesn't sound reasonable that China can't even accept Chinese culture.

That said, it does make some sense that Qing isn't a cultural union...

Qing shouldn't be a cultural union when it's formed. But it should be able to become a cultural union after some requirements are fulfilled.

Qing isn't a culture union country in 1.8 too. This is frustrating. Because the base tax of Han culture is so big that Ming usually can only accept one culture from beginning to end .
Even with the current Ming, you can still have Manchu, Japanese, Wu and Korean become accepted cultures if you take Humanism and get Silk trade. As long as you avoid culture converting any provinces beforehand.
If they are breaking up Han into a variety of sub-cultures now, that will make accepting cultures even easier as Ming.

which isn't really a surprise since this is a thread about Ming :)

But there are zillions of big cities in China and yet you both happen to be from Beijing!

Anyway, what do you think about a sugestion to add an ability of Chinese minors (Shun, Xi, Zhou, Yi, Miao, others added in 1.9) to reunite China (after potential Ming collapse) and restore Celestial Empire?

Or about a suggestion to allow Mongolia/Oirat on creating Yuan?

It should be an easy task -- just give the appropriate nations a special CB. Qing should also have this CB. But restore Celestial Empire upon unite is too arbitrary. Not all the Chinese dynasties should be applied with Inward Perfection. For example, Han, Sui, Tang and early Qing were expanding in their periods. In my opinion, only Ming and Song should have Inward Perfection.

Shun, Xi, Zhou and Dali should be able to re-unite China and form new dynasties. But Miao and Yi should not -- they are not in the Chinese culture group and were not historically plausible according to their technology and aggressiveness.

Yuan should only be created by Mongolia... Or maybe any Mongolian nation that is ruled by house Borjigin?

I now want to play a game in the next patch, start as ming release a lot of chineese vassals, pick one and play it. Now that the minors finally have their own NIs. I do think perhaps a China formible might not be a bad idea, but maybe a new dynasty could work too since China as we know it wasn't formed until the 20th century. Also in terms of the culture union with the Han culture getting split up getting accepted cultures should be a lot easier

Chineese history is fascinating but well our histories don't really touch it minus HEY LOOK CHINA DID STUFF, DAMN MONGOLIANS OH LOOK JAPAN AND KOREA(we fought a war there once). Pretty much how our history covers Asia(barely even touches india as well and in world history we re-went over the pacific front despite learning it in American history......I don't even recall our class talking about the second sino-Japanese war, eventhough china is a huge reason why the islands didn't have a good 2 million or so more Japanese on them)

I hope they made Ming a cultural union. Right now it's easier to make Japanese "accepted" culture than say, the Sichuanese (because of the larger tax base). I mean, sure, taking Humanism and what not not can eventually make the all the Chinese sub-cultures "accepted" by the Ming, but that's not a good counter-argument, because ANY culture can become accepted with Humanism, silk trade, etc.

The Sichuanese are just Han who live in Sichuan. It's ridiculous that they are not accepted in China, when they have never been not part of a Chinese kingdom/empire. The same goes from all Chinese sub-groups in game, which re all Han (they moved all non-Han Chinese cultures to other culture groups like Burman, which doesn't make any sense, but whatever).

Also, for Qing, Yuan, I feel like eventually they should get all Han groups accepted, with a decision or something, once they have conquered half or more of China.

Qing was hardly tolerant

Most states were hardly 'nice' to their primary cultures. Its hard to work out who should be accepted from a gameplay perspective through historical anecdotes.

The Qing promoted the Han in areas that were previously dominated by local identities, but its not possible to convert provinces to a non-primary culture. Manchu had privileges but they didn't dominate the bureaucracy.

Ming on the other hand should just be a culture union if there are going to be so many Chinese cultures and Japanese is leaving the group.

Yuan should only be created by Mongolia... Or maybe any Mongolian nation that is ruled by house Borjigin?

Gengisid, Chagatai and Timurid and most of the other altaic and Tartar dynasties are Bojigin cadet dynasties anyway.

I support this. It is both historical plausible and gameplay interesting. In Chinese ideology, any Chinese regime that unites Chinese region can obtain mandate of heaven and be accepted by Chinese people.
