Is Magicka 2 going to be online-only (like Wizard Wars)?

From my understand, the same engine and basic structure is used between Wizard Wars and Magicka 2. Before I pre-order, I'd like to know some thing: Is it going to be online-only (like Wizard Wars), or is it going to be locally hosted (like original Magicka)? I don't want to spend money on this franchise again just to get shafted by developer laziness again. So in essence, when I play single-player, a I going to be hosting the game locally? If I play multiplayer (LAN or over the internet), will I be playing on some outside server or will I/a friend be hosting?

Hi,

you will be able to play the game in single player without any connection to internet. The game will be hosted local.
When playing online with friends or foes the player that starts the game will act as server during that play session.

Well, it says Single Player on the store page on Steam, but I don't know about the server structure stuff.

For the record, Wizard Wars and Magicka are very, very different games. Magicka is much more fun!

I think Wizard Wars would be more popular if they added a basic 8 player PvE mode where you team up and battle monsters.

ArcticWiking is just about as official as it gets.
Gotta love the fact checking though.
I've said this before, but I think the game got about 11 times as entertaining with my friends within punching distance.
