I hope Kyros doesn't exist. I hope it's a big twist where everyone is being deceived. Maybe one of the Archons is deceiving the rest, something like that.
The Voices of Nerat maybe. I mean he's a spymaster, he wears a mask and he takes issue to people not being 100% loyal to Kyros.

I don't think so though, I think the lore leans heavily towards a more traditional supreme overlord and followers model.

What would the Voices gain by pretending to be the Overlord's enforcer rather than the overlord himself? Sure, he makes the overlord seem all that much scarier, but anyone plotting against this fictional overlord would still be moving to neutralize him in any coup attempt.

!Wild speculation ahead!

The real power are the Archons, who secretly meet regularly and issue commands "In the name of Kyros". Kyros might be a powerless puppet from the start, secretly incapacitated powerful individual (think Emperor of Mankind), maybe he went somewhere and never returned (other dimension/time?), or he may never have existed in the first place. And this is the real reason why all Archons eventually joined Kyros - to get a seat in the ruling body of the empire, each having their respective "ministry", or area of influence. Or have been eventually defeated by the combined might of other Archons and replaced by another, more willing Archon of the same aspect.

Maybe, we all have a little Kyros inside of us. :p
But, seriously, is it possible Kyros is something feed upon people's desire to have a powerful overlord to rule and protect them like people elected Hitler in 1933?
Will it be a twist that a "good" guy try to overthrow him ended up find he is the very will of people?
Kyros is an ideology, Kyros is a sprite and you cannot kill Kyros!

Kyros is Donald J Trump and he is coming on Nov.10......:p

The Kyros romance thing reminds me of the Lady from the Black Company book series written by Glen Cook. The Evil all powerful mage empress of an empire banging with our protagonist. I see potential here.

But Obsidian doesn't do romances. Probably for the best.

Kypros threatens to kill Graven Nash and The Voices of Nerat. I think that puts them off the suspect list.

Kudos reminds me of the Adversary from Fables. We know that they exist, they are immensely powerful and dominate most of the known world, but the average person has no idea who or what they are. They just know that they are in charge and as long as you follow the rules, you don't have to know.

In my opinion it would be more interesting if women refer to Kyros as he and men refer to Kyros as she

I think it could be opposite. That Kyros gender is the same as player character. It was said that for over 400 years Kyros army have swept across the world. 400 years is very long to live for single human being. So Kyros could use magic to extend his life/became immortal, maybe he is not a human at all, or maybe there were many Kyroses across all those years (and maybe only Archons only know about that; maybe some of them are already planning to change the current "head" with someone more suitable). So why the same gender as player character? I think one of the game endings could be that PC will become the new Kyros and continue the reign.

Or better yet, let the players choose.

I could see them doing this! They did it with Revan in Kotor 2 and I'd love it if they did. Would play into replaybility too, in some small way!

I'm begining to suspect Tunon will be the traitor..... That way a loyal PC fatebinder can take his/her place. That way the PC is atleast a present character in any sequel, playable or not.

Spoiler alert!
:p It's just a guess! I'm usually wrong about these things. That said the only other Archons (in the Tiers) are Graven Ashe and Voices of Nerat (that I'm aware of!) Graven Ashe seems too obvious a choice, Nerat the same and has been said to be fanatically loyal to Kyros. There's Cairn but it's dead from what I have gathered (perhaps at the hands of Tunon via edict or judgement that drove it insane when it discovered Tunons duplicity) Tunon would play well into the whole, patron-betrayer angle, makes for convenient power vacuum post victory for the PC to fill and is more enigmatic protagonist over the usual suspects the other two more obvious ones are. But thats all just guess work.

EDIT: I guess theres Sirin but she seems too "new" to be a viable choice and Archon Bleden Mark seems squarely in Tunons pocket!

Kyros should just remain in the background for most of the game. It's presence should be like the Eye of Sauron, ever-present and terrifying, but not directly involved. It adds more weight to the Edicts, that it is capable of such power even though it could be miles away.

I think this will be the case in this first outing in the world of Tyranny. I'd be really dissappointed if the chance to overthrow or seriously challenge Kyros was available in Tyranny. Perhaps in later titles, if such come about, but not yet.

I've been reading alot of previews and developer interviews and such and have noticed that Kyros is being refered to interchangably as a man AND a woman at different times by different people (including developers!), so which is it? While I don't think it would make a vast amount of difference really, especially as I doubt we'll see much of Kyros beyond reference and perhaps a small appearance either in voice or person but, to the best of my knowledge, there haven't been many examples in crpgs in which, the all powerfull conqueror and supreme ruler has been a woman. Obvious examples in D&D not withstanding.

I do think it would be a nice variation for a change if Kyros is woman.
It's because public education in writing has instilled the reverse indoctrination of her/he pronouns when used to reference gender neutral or unknown gender targets.

For example, when speaking of a human whose gender is unknown, it was classically normal to refer to that human as a "him" or "he" even if one didn't know the sex. Modern Western culture has flipped that to her/she. Part of this has to do with Biblical origins of man and woman, or rather even the root of the word "woman", meaning from or related to man. That's because it's still rude to call a human an "it", but that's probably why people have started creating all kinds of gender pronouns which has never before existed.

I figured that Kyros may not be a person at all, more like a cause or an ethos. Or like someone suggested above, that some of the more powerful archons came toghether and bowed before an effigy to prevent the disastrous wars between archons that were the case before the rise of Kyros.

Maybe, we all have a little Kyros inside of us. :p

A gestalt creature feeding on emotion? It's been done to death.

Kypros threatens to kill Graven Nash and The Voices of Nerat. I think that puts them off the suspect list.
Why would it? Kyros could just create an edicts that kills all other beings in the valley and then create a new persona to hide behind claiming that the one he/she/it posed as was killed by the edict.
