Every time I hear mention of romancing Kyros, all I can imagine is those really bad paranormal romance novels where the edgiest dark vampire lord who has never known love in thousands of years falls for some she-doesn't-know-how-beautiful-she-is 18-24 year old girl, because she's the specialist snowflake that ever was and ever will be. It's pretty much the same line of wish-fulfillment fantasy lol ;) I don't get the impression that Obsidian's writers are drawing a lot of inspiration from Twilight, though.

Everytime I hear about romancing Kyros in the world where evil has won I remember this:

Haha, and the video is fitting, seeing how the Fatebinder is technically Kyros' slave/property as well which makes the concept a bit creepy to me :p Coupled with the immense power-gap, it seems as likely as a romance between a person and a ballpoint pen.

But now I'm laughing at the idea of making some sort of Fatebinder/Kyros spotify playlist and filling it with Nickleback and Evanescence lol (yes I'm a terrible person)

It would be nice to have Lady Kyros, since there was so many male evil emperors that it is no longer fun. But having evil queen in iron mask is fresh. She dont need to express her gender since undefetied legions march for the idea not a person. But if we ever meet in flesh it would be nice to have girly conqueror.
Quite the opposite, as opposed to it being a fresh idea I cite the Lady of Pain from the Planescape setting (and as exemplified in Planescape: Torment) and the Queen from Endless Legend as precedent that having faceless tyrannical female overlords is both awesome and totally sweet.

As the resident feminazi, could I please ask you not to use female as a noun? We usually refer to people as men or women, regardless of whether the person is human or supernatural.

I remember reading early on that Kyros is a women. Lately, I've been surprised to see Kyros referred to as a man. At first I assumed it was a mistake, but now I'm not sure.

Well the Lady of Pain and the Queen aren't exactly women... The Queen is an insane supercomputer, and the Lady of Pain is an entity so powerful that she straight-up murders anyone who suggests she might be a god because in the city she rules belief shapes reality, and so she doesn't want to be weakened by people believing she's a deity.

I was going to reference Laurell K Hamiltons, Anita Blake series. Was kinda like that, until it got weird...er :D But Twilight would work also! *shudder*

Yeah I doubt it would happen and it would take a monumental effort not to have it be cheesey. Tyranny wouldn't benefit from going cheese factory.

@ActionMovie I often use the term, male as a noun also, but then I'm uneducated, not sure what the difference is but will change it anyway since no offense was intended ;) EDIT: or I would have if I could figure out how to change thread headings after the fact, changed the noun use in the post itself for time being. As I said, uneducated :)

I agree with the people guessing that Kyros will play a minimal role in this first game. He or she will likely remain something of a mystery.

It's not a massive deal, but male and female (especially as nouns) generally refer to animals. People are women or men - some people prefer terms that refer to their personal gender identity.

I'm an overeducated nerd with no life skills. We tend to develop some pet peeves. ;)

That makes sense, shall bear it in mind for future use, thank you. I'm also a nerd with no life skills, my only peeve being, when other road users don't do the thank you gesture when I give way to them! Grrrr, Perhaps thats why I like classic crpgs so much, doubt we'll see many cars rolling around in Tyranny, just aswell, as the ones that failed to show common courtesy would feel the wrath of Kyros, in full measure! hehe

Could be that Kyros is a woman but unless I know what part Kyros plays in the plot it will be hard to see what significance Kyros' gender may have.

It would be cooler is it was a female in my opinion

Why ?
Is there really difference ?

Personally, I find hard to decide if it were cooler for Kyros to be a human (male or female - you can use she were I write he, her when his) or some kind of monster / other race / strange being (possibly genderless).
The second possibility looks cool, but I think that Kyros being the Overlord everyone think he is is also very interesting. Yeah, he's nothing more than that. The ultimate arch-enemy, the Great Evil. And he won. And there's nothing you can do that isn't in his plans. You're just playing a game, and he set the rules. Even if you win it's his plan.

The quesiton of his/her gender doesn't seem to have any impact on whatever. It would not even be a nice variation or a surprise, we've already seen many, many stories where the bad guy / evil overlord was in fact a woman, including D&D as mentionned above. It's a bit like the "the big boss is in fact the little monkey on the shoulder of the giant !" cliché, we see that all the time, now.

Why ?
Is there really difference ?

There are no differences of course, it's just my personal taste rather than something to read in to. It could be more natural, as in more fitting to a bronze age-ish world but when a world has magic in it, I see it vice-versa, as in I find it more fitting to see women wielding greater power than men.

On the other hand, the genderless being sounds like a wildcard, Obsidian won't have to deal with anyone complaining about why Kyros was whatever gender they decided on and it is cool too.

As the resident feminazi, could I please ask you not to use female as a noun? We usually refer to people as men or women, regardless of whether the person is human or supernatural..

I chose female instead of women because I talked about the possibility of Kyros being a genderless "it". By a genderless being, I do not refer to a supernatural person but an equivalent of a God with no sexual connotation. I would choose women if I would assume Kyros to be a person. In any case, it's a small, off-topic and irrelevant detail.

Not sure if PC Kyros romance would work, She seems to be the kind of girl who is possitive to share her glory with all loyal men (and women), as well as more interesting in conquering your land not your hearth.
On the bright side there is a NPC Sirien who just want you to worship her voice.

Isn't she like 15? All the potential romance talk about her would be like the second most controversial such talk in recent memory.

Why aren't we discussing her instead of Kyros. She seems much more interesting. If Kyros is like Sauron, he or she will likely be the least interesting character in the game.

Whatever she is, I would want she's some kind of weird creature underneath like Drow queen from Drizzt legends .

I thought exiled drow were turned into spider centaurs as a punishment. I miss the old DnD cRPGs.

But you can still be queen? Does anyone have standards anymore?
You pose though questions. :p
Lolth, the queen, is goddess of drow elves. She is some kind of planary creature. I don't have to mention she's chaotic evil. Elf who fails the test gets transformed into drider. Transformation is followed by huge pain because you're turning into a spider. And yes, she has standards. She loves to torture out of pure pleasure.
