I am curious if there will be a birth of Christ event near the end of the game, and how important the implications of Christianity will be worldwide. Has this been confirmed so far?

Nice to know, but a bit of a shame. There is a eight centuries gap between Imperator and CK2, it seems. And those were quite interesting centuries.

Decades? I thought it ended in the year 750 (4 BC), which isnt only 300, less than other pdx titles, but if its decades before christ thats even less! I need time to build the Roman Empire to all its glory!

Funnily enough, 4 BC is the latest plausible date for Jesus' birth, if we take Herod's death as a reference.

Would be, yes, but I doubt we will see it. Lifecycle is long nowadays, and the next game is probably Vicky3. I hope they make at least Barbarian Invasion DLC for Imperator one day, though.

Buddha and Mahavira, two most influential religious reformers of their time (and founders of Buddhism and final great establisher of Jainism respectively) are both long dead before the game begins. The most you can witness in the timeline is Third Buddhist Council in Pataliputra, hosted by Emperor Ashoka the Great, which codified the unified Buddhist doctrine. And his subsequent sending of Indian monks to Greece and Egypt in an attempt to convert them to Buddhism. And then reversal of the doctrine and beginning of slow resurgence of Hinduism after Mauryans.

And of course, various philosophies and famous philosophers that appeared in Greece and the rest of Mediterranean during this era, which may or may not tie to religion.

I think you may be underestimating how many Paradox GSGs are currently in development. I am counting three unanounced PDS projects right now, which could each be a grand strategy game.
