I've got 3 air divisions of 100 planes each. Japan now has Air Superiority due to my fighters and 2 wings of Tac bombers doing CAS, churning up the Chinese. But none of that can help Japan, which is being rolled up by January 1939.

So my question is, did Japan get nerfed to heck and back? Or did China get massive boosts because Paradox wants to sell its games in PRC? Because at this point, I don't see Japan lasting on Mainland Asia, so why would the U.S. even provoke them, when they're dying on their own.

It looks like Manchuria might stuff up the supply if they join the war early. progress or not, they then declare war on Shanxi, then invade China by sea. Some times it all goes well but not too often, especially with an early Chinese faction. When they start losing they seen to declare war in the Dutch early as well.

One of the reasons I like to play Japan is the AI failing at.

A few patches ago people were complaining Japan too powerful and China too weak generally. So that was addressed with adjustments to China IIRC. I've played both China and Japan a few times, and I remember China struggling to build infantry weapons due to a lack of factories. They were basically hamstrung from the off. I find it tougher as Japan now for sure, but not in a bad way. It's more of a challenge. I'm running through as Japan now for what it's worth, and China put up a good fight.

But only in my games does japan always destroy china? Especially by 39/40? I often don't even have to help them (sometimes I do something to get XP but nothing special) and then I find myself in Japan eating allies, taking away rubber and oil and sending them "in the balloon" making them crazy while I land in the UK.

In the last couple updates, the Allies and China have recieved buffs/updates that have turned the favor of the war into their own. China recieved IIRC 1 civ and 1 military factory from the start which has really increased their ability to fight Japan who doesn't usually do well. At all.

In the last two campaigns I've played Japan didn't beat China. They simply stalled as tehy were most of the way through. Then the historical focus tree makes them declare on the Phillipines. The AI actually does a cracking job of fighting a war on two fronts.
