Is it worth waiting for the International airport?

I have, for the very first time ever, managed to get a city up to 60K without everyone dying because of noise or 3-mile-long traffic jams

My question, though, is the airport worth it? Should I wait for the international airport? Should I build both? Should I build neither?

The Airport is far from needed by your city. It functions as a point of entry/exit from your city. More access lets more tourists come and it can draw traffic off your highways that go to the map edge. Used right you can get some worth but you definitely don't need it.

As for the the regular vs international comparison. International can handle more plane traffic and has a metro connection built in. I personally like it a lot more.

Thank you, Promethian. Since I've been trying to get as many tourists as possible, I could probably use an airport. It's only 15K citizens away to get the international airport. I can wait.

You need to build both if you want to unlock unique buildings, but other than that it would be the Int'l Airport if you want as many tourists as possible.

Only have to do that once ever. I dont even remember which unlock it was. Also once you hit the requirement you can tear down the ones you dont use.

The "Grand Mall" requires the "Airport".

The "Space Elevator" requires the "Grand Mall".

The "Cathedral of Plentitude" requires the "Airport".

The "Eden Project" requires the "Cathedral of Plentitude".

The "London Eye" requires two instances of "Airport". (Pretty sure the "International Airport" does not qualify as one of them.)

The "Luxury Hotel" requires the "International Airport".

I am not 100% certain if that is all or not.

Once you hit the requirement you can tear down the ones you dont use.

Kind of expensive, but very true, of course.
