As NatChi, fighting ComChi in their mountain stronghold in the NW. Seems a hell of a lot harder than my last try before WtT. Seems I simply can't produce enough stuff to keep my divisions equipped, even though I started with what I thought were reasonable surpluses - 7K InfEq, ~400 each Art and AA. With around 20 MIC to rifles, ~5 each to Art and AA.

Looking at the Combat Log, and my equipment losses to Attrition are about 50% of my total. 30,000 Rifles lost to combat, 29,000 lost to Attrition.

Would it be worth it to put Maint on on infantry? Or get the -8% Attrition army staffer? I'm starved for PP points, because of power struggle with UF members and sweeping Communist infiltration.

I feel like I could win this more easily somehow. Maybe equipment losses are the key? I've captured a few regions, but it has been a hard slog.

is this before or after Japan invades?

If you want to crack them before Japan invades, there’s a guide online about it - basically you need to stack modifiers and tact bombers to break through the river/mountain line.

if it’s post war, use CAS, mountaineers, engineers and artillery to break through communist positions. I don’t think maintinance companies are worth

Maybe with 1942 tech, when maintenance company got improved quite a bit, but 1936 very much no.

I feel the best way to crack mountains are Mountaineers, Light Sp Arty with Mountaineer General or just pire Infantry without any supporz companies as org sponges with lots of CAS.

I'm not sure about China given its lack of industry, but I'm a huge fan of maintenance since it has some hidden benefits that people don't think about: your troop strength in combat is maintained longer, meaning you aren't suffering as many combat losses either (as well as reduced attrition).

The captured equipment is also pretty amazing when holding a defensive line, but for China the support equipment cost might be too high to be practical in numbers.

As for commie china vs nat china i just rush the focus for war against them, put all my forces on their bordes and continuously attack a spot at them, eventually they'll break, takes a bit of casualties but you get some army xp.

It may cover the investment cost but you can always invest elsewhere to get much bigger return on investment like CAS.

And Maint for infantry is probably only worth for 40 width. They increase your combat loss too because they increase division cost, and lower the org.
