The AI is lacklustre, but certainly no worse than in any other strategy title. Considering how much it has to keep track of, it's amazing it does as well as it does. The AI is not suicidal, quite opportunistic, and needed a bit of help from the programmers re managing its economy (inflation "cheat").
Though lots of people have reported repeated anomalous results in combat, in two months of playing, I haven't found more than a couple of battles that smelled funny.
I paid 60 Canadian dollars for this title - twenty more than I usually pay for new titles. And I would do it again and again. Everytime I win another campaign, I can't wait to start over with a different power.
I can't promise YOU won't be disappointed - some people have been. But give it a shot. If you don't like it, return it for store credit if possible.
