One nice thing about Protestantism and Calvinism (aka Reformed) is that you get quite a lot of nice decisions (Popery Act, Test Act, etc.) that give you extra missionaries, so you can go full innovative and still have spare missionaries without having to take Rome, Jerusalem, or Mecca. Not enough maybe if you're really blobbing, but useful if you're fighting colonial wars against different-religion powers and still want that sweet tech cost bonus.
