Is it sane?

Is it sane to keep players from playing Crusader Kings II in peace? Is it sane to keep players' out of steam workshop mods and the only way such players can satisfy their modding needs is through Paradox forums? I am not sure what is the issue here of why I can only look at steam mods but cannot download them for some strange and unknown reason.

Now this issue has spread into Europa Universalis IV after the Art of War expansion. Some players have claimed it might due to game mechanic only accepting up to date mods or once again another unknown strange reason. If this pattern continues, I may regrettably be force to retract a famous quote I often applied to Paradox games; "Shut and take my money!"

Just like the stockholders; I like to be awarded for my investment as well.

There is no intentional bar to you downloading mods from Steam. It can take a while - days sometimes, I don't know why - but it does work. I have about 20 subscriptions in there and they download and update just fine.

If you want to give a little technical detail instead of insulting our mental health, I'll see what I can do for you.

How is it insulting when I am stating a fact? Not very good with sugar coating, I am just trying to figure out this madness. It is an ongoing problem going on for the majority of this year and so far no concrete suspect nor a workable solution. I don't have issue with updates and have no problem with modders updating their mods to ensure compatibility, can't blame faults at them. They are mod like Crusader Queens in which I would love to try but it is only available through steam workshop and other similar mods. If the modders doesn't want to a double mod; one for steam workshop and one for paradox forums. Then what? Am I suppose to force them to?

The workable solution that was provided by your post would only applied for those whom had bountiful free time in their hand and would be a put off anyone with little time in in their hand.

Like I stated before Europa Universalis IV was cursed free until the Art of War was dropped, something telling that either Paradox Forums or Valve Steam communications got lost in translations.

If we can get some technical details please. You have subscribed to what mods on the Workshop? Have any come down at all? Are they listed in your Launcher, in the game's Contents button, are the files physically present in your documents/paradox/ck2/mod/ folder?

What platform are you on? Do you have any other Steam games that use the workshop, if so is there any problem there?

Check you have all ports listed under Steam Client open in all your firewalls

No, they are not list in the launcher whatsoever. I will check and see if my firewall is the culprit behind this travesty.


Update: Steam has full rights in my firewall.

The only Paradox games that is not on steam platform is Victoria 2. Only the zip file shells often shows in the mod folder and launch read file does not show.

I am on Windows platform(ALWAYS) and yes the Steam Cloud Sync is enabled.

Each mod should have a .mod file AND a .zip file, like this:

flatmap.mod
flatmap.zip

Are you saying that only the .zip files are there? If so that is the problem, although I don't know what could possibly cause that.

The only Paradox games that is not on steam platform is Victoria 2.

That's wasn't my question; what I'm asking about is ANY Steam game aside from CK2 which makes use of the workshop. If you have any that fit that description (I see you have EU4 for instance), do you have this same problem? We are trying to determine whether it's a problem with this game only, with Paradox games only, or a general problem you are having with the Steam Workshop regardless of game.

Both need to be enabled. If CK2 cannot do cloud sync it won't be able to get mods from the Workshop. Can I ask why you disabled it? Is it disabled for EU4 also?
